Three animal welfare agencies worked together earlier this week to save about 50 cats from a Schenectady apartment.
A woman was being evicted from an apartment at 13 Edison Ave. The Schenectady County SPCA, the Animal Protective Foundation and Robin’s Nest in Niskayuna helped relocate the cats.
SPCA spokesman Randy Simons said the cats were healthy, so no charges were filed. The cat owner voluntarily surrendered the cats to the Animal Protective Foundation.
Schenectady County SPCA Chief David Dean said the three agencies worked very cooperatively.
“There was no bad intent with the owner. She was being evicted. Certainly, there was some hoarding issues,” Dean said.
