Police say 28-year-old Kenya Bunch is charged with menacing and felony aggravated animal cruelty under Buster’s Law. Schenectady Police say the case began when they were called to 302 Victory back on February 11th for a domestic dispute.
A warrant was issued for Bunch following that incident, but he was nowhere to be found.
Police say he showed back up on February 20th, there was another domestic incident and Bunch repeatedly stabbed his girlfriend’s 8-month-old pitbull, its spinal cord severed. Police say the dog was taken to a local vet, but the injuries were too severe and the dog had to be euthanized.
After nearly a month on the run and a manhunt in and out of the Capital Region, police caught up with Bunch at the Lawrence Motel on State Street this morning. The arrest was a joint effort between the Schenectady Police Department, County SPCA, and the US Marshals. Bunch is currently in the Schenectady County Jail.
